Dialing Configuration
Under the Button Settings tab, you may assign a different softphone when you left-click and right-click the button. Below the settings show that the add-on will dial out using Skype when the user left-clicks the button and magicJack when he right-clicks it.
If you are using Skype or magicJack, you should not have to change any of the settings under their respective tabs.
If you are using other dialers, you can test the dialing methods:
- Call To, Sip or Tel will work if the dialer is set to react to commands like callto://PhoneNumberToCall or Sip://PhoneNumberToCall or Tel://PhoneNumberToCall;
- Clipboard will work if the dialer monitors the clipboard for phone numbers;
- If the dialer needs to be passed the phone number as a command line argument, use Command Line and select the path to the dialer executable and type the necessary arguments.
If none of these methods work, contact the manufacturer of the dialer to find out how the dialer can be passed a phone number without typing it.
NOTE: we are not dialer experts. If you want us to figure it out for you, we can try investigating the issue for you, but it will be considered paid support.
Positioning your buttons
You may adjust the position of your button on a horizontal line which starts at the bottom of the phone field it is tied to. Under Button positioning, you may enter a number of pixels. That's the number of pixels between the right edge of the field and the left edge of the field. By default, it is set to 2, which means that the button lies 2 pixels to the right of the field.
Here is what it looks like when set to 2 pixels:
If you set the value to a negative value, the buttons will appear on top of the phone field. Here is what it looks like when set to -43 pixels:
Opening the New History window to record the result of your call
By default, The Universal Dialer Plugin for ACT! opens up the New History window shortly after dialing. If you do not want the window to open automatically, uncheck the checkbox under Open the New History window after dialing under the Other Settings tab.
