Creating a calculation

The process of creating a calculation is really easy. You just have to follow the calculation wizard:

  • First, you choose a name for your calculation;
  • Then a target field, ie. the field the result of the calculation will be written to;
  • Then an overwriting condition (like never overwrite or, on the contrary, always overwrite, etc.);
  • Finally you type the syntax of your calculation: that's the most difficult part;
  • You can also instruct Automatic Field Calculation to flash the target field in red as a visual clue that the calculation has taken place.
