Before Christmas activities

Because of the Minister's decision to resolve 2 sanctuary cases and the promise to quickly study a third one, we decided to put off any activities that we had planned to increase pressure on her for now.

Lobby Day in Ottawa  
The Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR) lobbied cabinet ministers and members of Parliament on the importance of implementing the right of appeal for refugees. You can find further information on the issues they will be raising in the "What's new" section of the  CCR website at: www.web.net/~ccr/

Reaction to the decision of a US judge regarding Mohamed Cherfi's refugee claim (arrested following the violation of the sanctuary at St. Pierre church in Quebec City on March 5, then deported to the US and in jail there since then). Were present: representatives of the Ligue des droits et libertés, Amnesty International and Comité de solidarité avec Mohamed Cherfi and of the Table de concertation des organismes au service des personnes réfugiées et immigrantes.
